On November 24th 1941, LIFE magazine's cover story advised Americans to answer the question "What can I do to help the war Viagra blister 4 effort?" with one simple word: knit . Thousands kept their hands busy while listening to the radio for nightly news, providing soldiers with a rotation of warm socks, sweaters and fingerless mitts in regulation khaki or olive green.
